TRAVEL TO ROCHESTER

Getting to Rochester couldn't be easier.

Rochester is just 30 miles from London and 40 miles from the Channel ports and Eurotunnel.  It's easy to get to by rail, road, air and sea, and when you're here, traveling around couldn't be easier. The area has excellent public transport links by bus, train and taxi.

Rochester is actively supporting a zero carbon footprint target with regards to travelling here. There will never be enough carparking as we are an ancient city with small residential streets, so we encourage people to take the train, bus, cycle or walk whenever possible.

Our train station is just a 3 minute walk from the city centre and is situated on the mainline to London and the coast.  We are just 37 mins from St Pancras International, 44 mins from Victoria and 1hr 17 mins from Dover Priory with trains running regularly throughout the day.

If travelling from Essex – an interesting journey, missing the Dartford crossing, is to take the Tilbury to Gravesend Passenger Ferry for as little as £5.00 return (£2.50 per child)  - go to https://www.kent.gov.uk>travelling-around-kent/gravesend-to-tilbury-ferry for travel times, then catch the bus through to Rochester https://arrivabus.co.uk

Or if preferred – take the bike on the ferry and cycle along the beautiful canal path from Gravesend to Rochester – a fascinating route
