THE VINES PARK
The Vines Park
Until 1880, this was the redundant orchard and smallholding which used to be part of St Andrews Priory and kept the monks fed. Charles Dickens never knew it in it’s current layout or well-kept state. A peaceful place which many local people enjoy for relaxation and meditation, you can still find the missing spike on the railings opposite Restoration House which marks the spot where Dickens was last seen in public three days before he died. A spot which is a mecca for Dickens fans worldwide!
